Nutrition and health information can be very overwhelming and complex with the many fad diets in the news, new “superfoods” touting miracle health benefits, and people who freely distribute health information that isn’t accurate and sometimes dangerous. I aim to decipher the facts from fiction and use realistic and effective approaches to incorporate into your lifestyle to reach your goals. No matter what your diet, nutrition, wellness, and lifestyle goals may be, I will work with you and guide you on your journey to achieve and maintain your new way of life.
My approach is about living a healthy life the way you can enjoy and actually stick to! I don’t use the term “diets” or advocate strict diets unless from a medical nutrition therapy standpoint or to meet specific nutrition related goals, which require more adherence; but for the majority of us it’s about living well, eating in moderation and forming new habits. I don’t believe in a “cookie cutter” approach, but instead take you back to the basics with eating patterns and methods that will work for you individually.
I’m not only intrigued by the details and science of food, nutrition and health, but also your unique background, culture, physical activity regimen, lifestyle, and relationship with food…I want to know the bigger picture! There are many factors in one’s life that contribute to our food choices and actions. We’ll work together to discover these components and provide support and guidance to help you meet your current needs and goals.
The field of nutrition and dietetics is constantly changing and evolving. Because of this, my way of thinking, coaching concepts, and practices will mirror this as new nutrition research emerges and I grow as a nutrition professional. I am open to learning from a variety of techniques, theories, research, and personal experiences – which will help me discover what works and what doesn’t, and translate it all back to you!
